Angry Nintendo Nerd dives into NES movie-land again with Top Gun 1 & 2. The Second Mission is the 2nd game. This is the tenth installment in the series of bad videogame reviews by James Rolfe aka The Angry Videogame Nerd.
This installment featured the line "Why can't I land the plane?" that made it into the introduction theme. This video was first posted on September 15th 2006.
Angry Nintendo Nerd episode 9 covers Master Chu and the Drunkard Hu, another little-known 8bit NES masterpiece of crap that James Rolfe as the Angry Videogame Nerd delves into for this installment.
Episode 9 of the first season marks the first time that we see the introduction of "Shit Pickle", a special guest who makes his first appearance in the series with this episode. He was previously featured in some of James Rolfe's other material and is voiced by Rolfe.
This episode was first posted online on September 8th of 2006.
Wally Bear and the No Gang is the 8th installment of Angry Nintendo Nerd's first season of bad videogame reviews.
This episode features a scene of The Nerd talking to Wally Bear over the "Wally Bear Hotline", which was an additional scene not in the original version. It was added to the Season 1 DVD from Cinemassacre.com, and then later added to an updated youtube version re-released later.
Angry Nintendo Nerd tackles a little-known gem of a horrible game called M.C. Kids for 8bit NES in what is his 7th installment of bad NES game review videos. MC is short for "Mac" or "Mic" as in "McDonalds" and is an officially licensed McDonald's videogame. Perfect fodder for the Angry Videogame Nerd!
This is the first video to feature an actual introduction/theme song, and was originally created and posted on August 25th 2006.
Back to the Future I, Back to the Future Part 2 and Part 3 for NES are Angry Nintendo Nerd's focus in these 8bit NES reviews.
This installment was part 6 of the Angry Videogame Nerd's series of bad NES reviews. In this installment, he not only tackles Back to the Future, but also the sequel cartridge which was called "Back to the Future II & III" for the 8bit NES. All of them equally horrible, naturally.
This video was first created and posted on youtube back on June 21st 2006, as well as on ScrewAttack. It proved to be just as popular as his review of TMNT, and was the second installment of LJN-developed games (the first being Who Framed Roger Rabbit), which would turn into a trend. As all of the movie-based LJN games are horrible.
Several of the memorable quotes and crude language (a Nerd staple) of this review would also make it into the official theme song intro used in later episodes.
TMNT for NES! Angry Nintendo Nerd returned with episode 5 on June 21st 2006 in what proved to be his breakout video review hit for 8bit NES. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles NES was his most popular review yet and arguably the single video review that gained him the most Internet stardom.
It was with his TMNT review that ScrewAttack caught wind of this rising star, and inked a deal with James Rolfe to have his videos featured on ScrewAttack.com. This would lead to very lucrative dealings in the future for The Nerd, as it eventually lead to his reviews being exclusively featured on GameTrailers.com as one of their major features (Gametrailers being owned by MTV).
This was also the first video review to officially feature a Title Card. Additionally, two memorable quotes from this Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles NES review, including "Why can't a turtle swim?" and "Cowabunga? Cowa-fucking piece of dog shot!" would make their way into the official Angry Nintendo Nerd intro theme in later episodes.
Angry Nintendo Nerd broke his trilogy rule with this review of Who Framed Roger Rabbit for 8bit NES, marking his 4th video review for Cinemassacre.com. This time, his friend and colleague Matei convinced The Nerd to keep making more videos because of how funny he found them.
It was with this fourth video review for Who Framed Roger Rabbit that James Rolfe began to realize that he could make a killing and gain in popularity by making these bad videogame reviews. And it was with this video that Matei convinced The Nerd to create a youtube account at "JamesNintendoNerd" and he started uploading his videos there as well.
This video was first posted on April 24th 2006 for both youtube and Cinemassacre. The line "I want to nail Roger Rabbit to the fucking cross" got the nerd's approval as his official favorite quote of 2006. Also the line, "Why is the password so long", that would become part of the full intro theme created in later videos, originated from this Who Framed Roger Rabbit video review.
